INTRODUCTION
This section of the site is intended as a basic guide to BDSM for people who have encountered it at second hand on the internet, possibly through fanfiction, and want to know more about it.
A lot of so-called BDSM material on the internet is very extreme. If you typed “BDSM” into a search engine and based your opinion on the results, you’d probably come to the conclusion that BDSM is just a glorified term for abuse. The same goes for stories: a lot are simply labelled “BDSM, rape, NCS” as though all three were part of the same thing.
This saddens the KatCom webmistresses, because all of us enjoy BDSM in real life, and we’ve all written consensual BDSM fanfic. We’ve spent hours trawling the internet for quality fics by other people too, but we’ve found surprisingly few. We have to admit that we’ve created this section partly in the hope that people might be inspired to write some!
What these pages are not:
- Pornographic or obscene
- An ultimate “authority” about BDSM. This site is intended mainly as an accessible introduction to the subject for people who are curious but not necessarily kinky themselves, so the content is selected accordingly.
- An informational site for people who actually want to practice BDSM. Though if that’s your thing, good luck and welcome to the club, check our links section for sites that will help you out.
